Bowl of Granola Exclusive - Operation Anchorage DLC Pre-Release Review

Operation Anchorage, the first of 3 planned expansions for Fallout 3, is going to suck balls. Oh, I'll buy it, but it's going to suck.



To summarize for those of you too lazy to read the developer interview:
- Not open ended: totally linear with only a few options as to how the story turns out.
- No new creatures (specifically, NO PENGUINS....in Alaska)
- Takes place in a virtual fantasy world (within the already virtual fantasy world of Fallout 3), so most likely none of your equipment will carry over (from either side)
- Bethesda has estimated the extra gameplay between 4 and 6 hours (most people will be done with it in 45 minutes)
- No penguins

Unverified predictions (Bowl of Granola Exclusive Speculation):
- You won't be able to see Russia from the shoreline.
- No dogsleds.
- All Chinese character voice acting will be compiled from previously recorded sound clips of Pat Morita.
- It will suck.
- There will be more snow on the ground outside my house than in the game (this is less of a problem for everyone, but will just f**king depress me).
- Game narrator Ron Perlman will be swapped out for Rick Warren.
- It will be grossly overpriced.
- No armor for dogmeat (props to Derrick on calling this one).
- It will suck balls.

Now I know this is a pessimistic outlook for what could be a half-way decent expansion. However, without penguins, I can't possibly see how it will be worth the 8,000,000 Microsoft points it will cost.

If it IS bad, I'll post a post-release review of the expansion. If not (however unlikely that may be), I'll post shirtless pictures of Channing Tatum to increase traffic and throw you off the scent.
